Extract systems for explosive atmospheres
Solutions for ATEX explosive atmospheres
To prevent the risk of explosion in facilities with explosive atmospheres, it is essential to have certified equipment prepared for this purpose. SODECA's units manufactured for ATEX explosive atmospheres have a non-spark fan operated by an electric motor that complies with the specifications of legislation in force.
SODECA's ATEX fans have ATEX certification and are designed and built in accordance with European Standard EN 14986:2017, wherefore they are suitable for use in Zone 1 (Category 2) and are compliant with European Directive 2014/34/EU.
Applications
There are many applications that may require fans prepared to work in explosive atmospheres. In general, any application that takes place in a zone with a risk of explosion:
Declassification of explosion risk zones by means of ventilation systems
Any device installed in an explosive atmosphere must be prepared to prevent ignition that leads to an explosion. This gives rise to a considerable increase in the cost of facilities, maintenance and safety in industries with explosive atmospheres. For this reason, in most industries there is a tendency to declassify the maximum number of explosion risk zones.
To completely or partially declassify a room or area with an explosive atmosphere, it must be ventilated with air that is free of gases or explosive dust, consequently ensuring that the concentration of these gases or dust is reduced below the explosive limits. Mechanical ventilation can manage to reduce the risk level of premises or minimise the extent of a classified zone, thereby reducing the anti-explosive requirements of the devices to be installed in those premises.
